Imagine spending a beautiful fall afternoon on a spacious, covered porch surrounded by the natural beauty of Whitehall Forest—listening to live music, enjoying a delicious BBQ lunch and relaxing with friends. Join your OLLI friends for Music on the River at Flinchum’s Phoenix, a unique setting along the Oconee River. Sit back, relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings while three talented local musicians provide an afternoon of music ranging from folk and country to American favorites and popular covers. With great music, good food and plenty of time to enjoy the company of fellow OLLI members, this is a wonderful way to spend a fall afternoon.
Highlights:
- Live Music! Three solo performers will entertain: Dulcimer musician Tom Stravran and guitarists Kevin Greene and Bill Demarco.
- BBQ Lunch! At noon, enjoy a buffet-style BBQ lunch catered by Sauce House. The menu includes chopped chicken, pulled pork, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw and a vegetarian baked potato with cheddar, sour cream and onions. Dessert includes banana pudding and peach pudding. Assorted rolls and buns, sweet and unsweet tea, and lemonade will also be served.
Registration: Space is limited, so register by October 2 to join us for this special afternoon of music, food and fellowship.

Directions: Note that GPS directions to Flinchum’s Phoenix are not always accurate. If traveling from the OLLI office at River’s Crossing (850 College Station Rd, Athens:
- Travel south on College Station Road.
- Turn right onto Barnett Shoals Road.
- Barnett Shoals Road becomes E. Whitehall Road.
- Take the third exit from the traffic circle onto Phoenix Road.
- Continue approximately 2 miles on Phoenix Road to Flinchum’s Phoenix
