Discover Georgia’s role in U.S. history on a two-day road trip to Warm Springs, Andersonville, Americus, and Plains.
Highlights: Tour FDR’s Little White House in Warm Springs (where he found relief and shaped New Deal ideas), walk the powerful grounds of Andersonville National Historic Site and the National Prisoner of War Museum, overnight at the Historic Windsor Hotel in Americus, then explore the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park in Plains — Boyhood Home and Farm, campaign depot, Billy Carter’s station, and the Plains High School Visitor Center & Museum.
A retired National Parks Superintendent (Andersonville & Jimmy Carter sites) will lead the site tours. Sites are ADA-compliant; expect moderate walking and some uneven surfaces but wheelchair/walker accessible.
Cost: $370 per person includes:
- Tour,
- Luxury motor coach transportation,
- Lunch day 1 at the Bulloch House
- Group Dinner day 1 at the Historic Windsor Hotel
- Hotel breakfast voucher for Day 2
- water and snacks for the road.
Not Included: Historic Windsor hotel room on 9/15 (room value approx. $185) and lunch in Plains on 9/16 (approx. $20). OLLI will send registrants a link to reserve a room in our Windsor block.
