Are you eager to know more about the upcoming semester with OLLI@UGA?
Here are some things to help keep you “in the know.”
Membership: You must be a current member of OLLI@UGA to register for classes. Membership does have its privileges and not only will you be able to register for classes but as a member you can participate in any of our Shared Interest Groups, Travel Study trips, or the many social events held throughout the year.
Catalogs: Catalogs for the upcoming Spring 2018 semester are currently on schedule to be mailed early-mid December. We work to avoid the holiday mail rush so you will have plenty of time to review the catalog and select your schedule before we open registration. In the meantime, view the catalog now.
Registration: Registration for Spring 2018 will be in two phases.
- Class Host Registration: January 2-5, 2018. If you are willing to do a little bit of work, this short term volunteer opportunity comes with the perk of registering early. (See this month’s OLLI Times for members’ hosting experiences.)
- General Registration: currently scheduled to open to all members on January 10, 2018.
We will be sure to send plenty of notice as these dates get closer.
Class Dates: The Spring 2018 semester will be February 5 – June 8, 2018.
Parking tags: If you registered for one class at River’s Crossing during the fall, your parking tag is still valid and you do not need a new one for Spring 2018. If you sign up for a class at River’s Crossing for Spring and you do not have a parking tag for our lot, you will be assigned a semi-permanent hang tag to display in your car each time you are at River’s Crossing. Parking tags are available for pick up in the office located at River’s Crossing (850 College Station Road, Athens.) They are not mailed.
Registration: You may register for a class up until the first class meeting, unless otherwise noted. For ease, please use the Online Registration Guide on page 3 of your catalog or you can print the Guide now and have it handy. Please do not spend time frustrated – if you get stuck, we can help walk you through the process. If you want to first give it a try on your own, use our newly created Practice Event in the Online Store. This practice opportunity is available now. If you choose to register by paper, you do not have to wait until registration opens in order to mail/drop by your registration form. All paper registration forms will be date stamped in the order received and processed the day registration opens.
Credit on Account: If you have credit available on your OLLI account, you can use it to pay for classes, trips, social events, or even membership. To use your credit on account, we recommend reviewing our Credit on Account one-sheet reference guide to familiarize yourself with the steps.
Class Hosts: Throughout the year, new and current class hosts are welcome to attend a host training session. Learn or re-familiarize yourself with the tasks needed for a successful class host experience. Upcoming training sessions are January 17 (2-3 p.m.), January 25 (10-11 a.m.), Februrary 26 (2-3 p.m.)
Course Updates: Due to various reasons, changes were made after the catalog was printed and distributed. You can find information regarding all changes on our Course Updates page.
FYI: Inclement Weather Policy: OLLI@UGA follows the inclement weather policy established by the University of Georgia. In the event of inclement weather, OLLI@UGA will follow the recommendations of a delayed start or campus closure. We will make every effort to post this information immediately on our website, voicemail, and social media outlets.
Office Holidays In concert with the University of Georgia, the OLLI@UGA offices will be closed November 23 – 24 and December 25, 2017 – January 2, 2018.
