OLLI Travel/Study Adventures
As part of OLLI@UGA’s lifelong learning mission, our members have taken numerous trips to points within the United States and to international destinations as well. Here is a sampling of some of those adventures coordinated by OLLI’s Travel/Study Committee.
FRANCE OLLI’s Travel/Study trip to France included Paris and the Palace of Versailles
AFRICA This seven-day safari featured wildlife parks in Botswana and Zambia, and was offered through OLLI@UGA by Worldwide Xplorer.
COSTA RICA OLLI@UGA members explored the culture and lush scenery of Costa Rica during a Travel/Study adventure
KENTUCKY OLLI@UGA members had a great time visiting Kentucky horse country!
SAPELO ISLAND & REYNOLDS PLANTATION (Georgia) This small barrier island is a unique destination along Georgia’s famed “Colonial Coast.” After a stop at the mainland Visitor Center, OLLI@UGA members took a thirty-minute ride by ferry to the eleven-mile-long island. They enjoyed a guided tour highlighting the African-American community of Hog Hammock, Reynolds Mansion, Nanny Goat Beach, the University of Georgia Marine Institute, and a restored 1820 lighthouse.
ANDERSONVILLE PRISONER OF WAR MUSEUM (Georgia) This trip was scheduled in conjunction with a course on Civil War prisoner of war camps.
